DVD\CD Problem
Confirmed the hard drive and DVD drive were on separate IDE cables. Confirmed the hard drive were set as primary master and the DVD drive as secondary master. Replaced the hard drive and its cable with a new known working drive and cable. Replaced the DVD drive with a new CD ROM drive and cable.

A renaming problem
For sometime now the DVD/CD RW combo drive has not been functioning properly. By that I mean that the computer appears to recognise that there is a DVD/CD drive but has not been able to read or burn CDs. I've tried updating drivers etc but no joy.
